Tarot Birth Cards – Justice/High Priestess

Justice/High Priestess (Papess)

Theme:

The theme for a 11/2 lifetime is bringing life into a sense of balance through the analyzing and synthesizing of ideas. Learning to trust in yourself, your intuition, and your psychic abilities.

Justice and the High Priestess (Papess) represent form the gateway into an 11/2 lifetime. Justice (ruled by the planet Libra) places focus on harmony, understanding others, and finding a sense of balance in life. Libra is by nature active and social, with the need to balance between nurturing self and helping others.

The High Priestess (Papess) is ruled by the Moon, which places focus on our inner selves, our inner needs, intuition, unconscious, and psychic abilities. Here we are looking at reacting, rather than taking action. The nature here is a passive one.

The path that the individual walks is one that addresses bringing a sense of balance to life through analyzing and synchronizing ideas.

Astrological Associations:

Justice: Libra
The High Priestess (Papess): The Moon

Keywords:

Justice: the need to bring balance, past lessons, debts paid, success in legal matters, refusal to recognize the need for balancing, past debts not addressed
The High Priestess (Papess): intuition, knowledge, in tune with inner self, connection with the feminine mysteries, anima (female sense of self), psychic ability, connection with dreamtime, lacking intuition, blocking information, negative nature, coldness, insincerity

How Does An 11/2 Individual Empower Themselves?

Personal empowerment is the ability to focus our personal and spiritual energy in a manner that enhances how we experience our life. As we define our true power, we actualize out potential and begin to live life from a core of inner confidence.

In empowering ourselves, we set the conditions so that we can:

* Find our inner voice … who we are as an individual.
* Take charge of making our own decisions … not allowing other people’s wishes/needs to over-ride our own.
* Understand why we are dissatisfied with our life, and determine what will give us a feeling of satisfaction.
* Take control of our life … make the impact that we wish to make on the world/
* Integrate ourselves within our local and global communities.
* Be proud to be the person behind the mechanics of our own life.
* Know that we have the power to manifest our own lives … in any area that we wish to manifest in.
* Make life transitions easily.

We are whatever we tell ourselves we are. If we don’t understand why we are making the decisions that we are making, if we find that our decisions/actions are not making us happy, that they are not taking us where we want to go, then we have a disconnect somewhere. Our Birth Cards help us to understand the landscape of each lifetime, to focus on what is important, to understand where our focus needs to be, and to understand what internal resources we have to draw from.

Questions to ask ourselves focusing on Justice:

* What is out of balance in your life?
* Where do you need to receive justice?
* Where do you need to make amends and bring about justice?
* What decisions are you currently making?
* Are you seeing the pros and cons clearly?
* What are the possible consequences of your actions?

Questions to ask ourselves focusing on the High Priestess (Papess):

* What wisdom are you seeking at this time?
* Where are you in the cycle of life?
* How connected are you with dreamtime?
* Where do you seek your answers?

Affirmations:

Justice is all about balance, and the ability to make decisions. When we focus on Justice for the basis for our affirmation. We want to keep this in mind. Sample affirmations for Justice are:

* I set the foundation for my future with my present decisions and actions.
* I understand the difference between justice and revenge, and choose to seek justice.

The High Priestess is all about feminine mysteries, dreamtime, and connection with our intuitive/psychic abilities. Sample affirmations for the High Priestess (Papess) are:

Gifts/Abilities/Challenges:

Justice:

Gifts: balance without prejudice, ability to adjust quickly, ability to fair decisions, making amends, being true to one’s own beliefs

Abilities: to be able to bring a sense of balance to life

Challenges: not accepting responsibility for the consequences of your actions, making decisions without looking at all of the factors, being illogical, being disconnected from your higher self

High Priestess (Papess):

Challenges: spending too much time in the mental realm, inability to listen to or accept intuition, fear of the unconscious/unknown, acting in a superficial manner

Template For Working With Gifts/Abilities/Challenges:

* Define the area or issue being worked with.
* Define which Birth Card energies are involved.
* Define where on the spectrum of the Birth Card the energy is manifesting. (Very positive to very negative.)
* Define whether the energy is being manifested, blocked, or simply not being recognized.
* Define what type of energy is needed to bring the Seeker back into balance.
* Looking at both of the Seeker’s Birth Cards, determine which gifts/abilities can best be used to return the Seeker to a balanced state.

Summary:

In an 11/2 lifetime, Justice and the High Priestess (Papess) act together to help you find the truth in your life. Justice asks that you slow down, that you take your time with the decisions that you need to make. With Justice there is a need to find where your balance point is, where you will find harmony in your life. The High Priestess (Papess) asks that you listen to your inner wisdom, that your decisions be based on a deep inner knowing.

Justice asks that we accept responsibility for our thoughts and actions, and for the consequences of same. With Justice we see the process that got us where we are, and are able to bring a balance to our conscious and unconscious thoughts. The High Priestess (Papess) asks that we turn inward for our answers, that we align ourselves with spirit.

In this lifetime, information is processed. Justice does so in an active manner, gathering information, then discarding everything not connected to the core issue. Everything must be brought out into the light of day, in the name of bringing a sense of balance to the Seeker. Justice can appear as a very abrupt archetype, stating its case in no uncertain terms. The scales of justice and the sword of truth leave no room for compromise.

The High Priestess (Papess) takes a more passive, internal path to the truth. Her voice is the silent voice of spirit … a voice that is like an all pervasive mist that surrounds the Seeker. The High Priestess (Papess) looks for truth through spirit. She is attuned to the natural rhythms of life.

The “Tarot Lovers’ Tarot” is an amazing deck, without which I would never have been able to publish my first book, “Tarot, Birth Cards, and You”! I was beyond ecstatic when Karyn told me that Schiffer had agreed to publish her deck! So much work had gone into both the artistry and the interpretations, and into getting the deck up on her site (www.paranormality.com), that publication was that last step that brought the process full circle. The deck now has its own site – www.tarot-lovers.com – but those who follow Karyn’s work will remember that she included a miniature version of the deck in her Tarot Lovers Diary (complete with backs, so that the cards could be cut out, laminated, and used as a deck). The backs were redone for the print deck.

rsz_tarot_lovers_tarot_lbb

This is a traditional 78 card deck, using traditional Major Arcana titles (with the following exceptions: Papess/High Priestess, Pope/Hierophant), placing Strength at VIII, and Justice at XI. The suit titles are Wands, Cups, Swords, and Coins (Pentacles), with the Court Card titles King, Queen, Knight, and Page. The cards are accompanied by a 208 page “Little Black Book”. I love the play on “Little White Book”, which is the usual terminology for the companion book to a Tarot deck! The cover is black with silver lettering. The word “Lovers” appears in a beautiful deep pink, with the initi (i.e. Aces arfe new beginningsal letter in gorgeous script! The box that the cards and companion book come in has the trademark Schiffer magnetic lid, with the cover matching the cover of the companion book. The back of the box shows the imagery of the Lovers’ card done in silver.

The Major Arcana cards are presented with the name of the card, the esoteric title, upright and reversed keywords, an explanation of each card’s energy in the upright and reversed (Ill Dignified) position, and a general statement for both the upright and revered positions as to what the energy is in the Seeker’s life. Card associations include card number, key number, rulership, Hebrew letter, translation, numerical value, astrological association, candle color, and crystal. The text is accompanied by a half-page black and white scan of the card.

Hidden meanings are listed for the Devil and the Moon:

The Devil: The Devil card in a spiritual position may indicate someone who is out of control and that something may need to be done about it. The Nine of Wands reversed, together with the Devil, may indicate that someone has a potential drinking problem.

The Moon: The Moon, together with the High Priestess, may signify gynecological issues and also psychic ability. The Moon with the Seven of Swords warns about who to trust and to be careful with money. The Moon with the Three of Swords warns against ill health.

The Minor Arcana Pips (numbered cards) are presented with the card name, esoteric title, associations for numerological value, element, tetragramaton, life aspect, and astrological association, along with keywords for the upright and reversed positions, a short discussion of the card’s energy, and a general statement about the card in both the upright and reversed (Ill Dignified) positions.

The Court cards are presented with the title and suit, the esoteric name, the numerological value, element, elemental name, tetragrammaton, hair color, eye color, life aspect, and astrological association. Upright and reversed keywords are presented, along with a short discussion of the card’s energy in both positions. There is also a general statement for both positions.

Examples of the card statements include:

Fool (upright): Follow your head as well as your heart and make sure all’s in place beforfe you depart.

Fool (reversed): Feeling blocked, nothing to say, stay true to your dreams and get back on your way.

Nine of Wands (upright): When you make your last stand be sure to know that help is at hand.

Nine of Wands (reversed): When you fear you are all alone, you’re quite right – you’re on you’re the Marseilles style own.

Queen of Coins (upright): Hair so dark, and eyes too, this caring woman is an asset to you.

Queen of Coins (reversed): Hair so dark, and eyes too, she hates secondhand, and only buys new.

Under Additional Notes at the back of the book we find themes for each of the Pips (i.e. Aces are new beginnings, Fives are tricky karmic change), and what the Pips mean in a spread (i.e. 4 Aces can indicate power, 3 Aces can indicate wealth, 2 Aces can indicate moves), and what the Court Cards can mean in a spread (i.e. 4 Knights indicate military, 3 Knight indicate people, 2 Knights indicate old friends).

Tarot Lovers Tarot card back

The cards themselves are 3.5” by 5.5”, with sturdy, glossy card stock. I adore the elegant card back – a black background, with the same graphic that is on the cover of the companion book and the box. The backs are reversible. The card faces have a ½” wide white border, surrounding a fine black border. For the Major Arcana, the card number and title runs across the top in English, with the card title in French across the bottom. The Pips show the card number is Roman Numerals across the top, and the suit across the bottom. The Court Cards show the title across the top, and the suit across the bottom.

The artwork is very simple, with the Pips done in the Marseilles style (icons only). Tradition has been followed in that the Four of Coins has the artist’s (engraver’s) trademark in the center (this has also been done with the Four of Cups).  There are some lovely touches, such as the butterfly on the Papess, the astrological signs floating around the Wheel of Fortune, the rainbow colored stream of water on both Temperance and the Star, the Devil playing a violin, and the fish on either side of the figure in the World!

This is a very special deck, IMHO. The artwork, the tending to tradition, and the time spent on presenting the information on the cards shows a very professional and caring attitude. A welcome addition to any Tarot library! Viva “Little Black Book”!

Conversations Overheard – Moon/Hermit

I have been trying to think of ways in which I could make the Birth Card pairs come to life. I thought that it might be fun to have a Birth Card pair chatting over coffee or drinks. I was going to work with the gentlest Birth Card pair that I could find, just so the conversation would be, shall we say, a “nice, quiet one” Best laid plans, and all of that. The first two individuals that choose to speak were the ones that were the hardest for me to write about – The Devil and The Lovers. They choose to speak over drinks … fair warning! Today’s Birth Card pair are the Moon and the Hermit. The Moon is represented by the Lady of the Lake, Morgan Le Fay. The Hermit is represented by Albus Dumbledore. Both of these individuals are mythical … I am taking a bit of license here in asking them to represent certain archetypal energies. I hope I am forgiven, and that you enjoy the conversation!

Scene: The mythological isle of Avalon. Two figures are walking along the water, mist surrounding them. The male figure is older, with shoulder length white hair, and a flowing white beard. He is wearing a dark gray cape that seems to shimmer. The female figure is dark haired, and of indeterminate age. She is wearing a white dress, covered by a deep purple, hooded cape.

“Albus, thank you for coming. There is so much chatter going on that I thought it best for us to meet in person.”

“Morgan, it is my pleasure to visit Avalon. It is one of our better visions, and has served us well. I am sure that it will continue to do so. I have heard the chatter too. There will always be some version of the Dark Lord around. We always knew that this would have to be, so that mankind was able to come to its own conclusions, and drive itself forward. The Dark Lord forces everyone to examine their innermost selves, their belief systems, and their alignments. They see first hand what it means to act against their beliefs. It may seem harsh, but the learning is quicker. And we are always there to make sure that the chaos is “controlled”.”

Morgan laughed. “Controlled chaos … Only you could have come up with that term! I have been having visions lately that I would like to share with you. Both you and I came into this world with certain information, and the means to gain more information as needed. The visions that are coming to me were, I believe, implanted well before this lifetime. And they relate to the 2012 transition.”

Albus kept his face blank, but his eyes showed intense concentration. He was very good at masking the fact that what Morgan had just told him had startled him to his depths. Was it all coming this soon?

Morgan continued. “In my visions, I am seeing myself in a cave. It is well lit, with sconces on the walls holding burning candles. At one end of the cave is a deep pool of water. I am instructed to kneel down and gaze into the water. I see images that I know to be from my pasts. They carry no emotion … they are simply there. Mentors and teachers from various times in my lives come to me. They are all telling me to ready myself, that the time we all knew would come is here. I have a deep sense of foreboding about all of this. I understand the change … I helped create much of it.” Having said this, Morgan went quiet, waiting for Albus’ response.

Albus went deeply within himself. Was this the time? He had agreed to the task, but was this the time? In time, he spoke.

“Morgan, we have had many lifetimes together. You do understand the change. Your “remembering” is almost complete. The fact that you feel foreboding tells me that you have a wall up, that the final step is not clear. A part of you that many do not understand is that you are a healer. They know that you wield magical powers, and that often all is not as it seems in your world. For all that honor your wisdom, there are an equal number that fear you. This is the time for you to make your healing side known.”

Morgan felt the energy around her changing. It was lighter, more electric. She looked at Albus, and saw flashes of each of her mentors/teachers. A sense of peace came to her.

“What more is there, Albus? We have really not talked beyond the 2012 transition.”

“There is a reason for that. For many, the transition will be out of the physical plane. They are not ready to align themselves with the higher vibrations that will be required to move forward. They will be moving on to their teaching planes, to review the lessons that they could not, or would not, learn here. They have to move past these lessons to go on with their journey’s. You are a healer … in that capacity, you will be transiting with them. You can give them the visions that they need to know who they are, accept who they are, and function within those parameters. This will be a massive undertaking, and may require several lifetimes of effort. You made this choice long ago. Now is the time.” Albus looked at Morgana with wisdom and caring in his eyes. He knew that she would be able to do this.

“I understand, Albus. And So It Is.”

With that, Albus disappeared into the mist. Morgan continued on, saying her goodbyes to this world that she had walked in for so long. One part of her journey was ending, another about to begin.

And So It Is.

Conversations Overheard – Star/Strength

Conversation Overheard –
Star/Strength

I have been trying to think of ways in which I could make the Birth Card pairs come to life. I thought that it might be fun to have a Birth Card pair chatting over coffee or drinks. I was going to work with the gentlest Birth Card pair that I could find, just so the conversation would be, shall we say, a “nice, quiet one” Best laid plans, and all of that. The first two individuals that choose to speak were the ones that were the hardest for me to write about – The Devil and The Lovers. They choose to speak over drinks … fair warning! Today’s Birth Card pair are the Star and Strength. The Star is represented by Adrienne Mc Call, CEO of Mc Call LLC, a CT based company that creates books, videos, and seminars that deal with finding hope and living a positive life. Strength is represented by Anita Cho, CEO of Cho Enterprises, a company that creates workbooks, videos, and seminars on making and implementing decisions based on heart centered living.

Scene: The annual conference of female entrepreneurs, held at the Mandalay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The first day of the conference has just finished, and two of the presenters are seated in the lounge area, drinks in hand. The first presenter is Adrienne McCall, CEO of McCall LLC. The second woman is Anita Cho, CEO of Cho Enterprises. The two women have known each other “forever” … quite literally, forever!

“So, Anita, what do you think of this year’s conference? Are we getting anywhere?” Having said that, Adrienne picked up her vodka tonic and took a sip.

“Adrienne, we may be getting “somewhere”, but I am not all that sure that it is the direction that we want them to go in. The questions they asked us were really nothing new. Do you think they are ready to move forward?” Anita then picked up her own drink, and took a sip.

“I was watching the audience closely. As is often the case, the ones that spoke up were the ones that are either trying to figure out where they are, or are becoming too comfortable with the current paradigm. The ones who can connect current changes to a future paradigm were sitting back and watching. I think that we are fine.”

“You always were the one to shine hope where hope was either limited or non-existent. I will take you at your word. We need to discuss how we will present our agenda during our own presentations tomorrow.”

At that point the waitress appeared, and they ordered another round of drinks, along with a sample plate of hors d’oeuvres. Neither woman was hungry enough to want to eat dinner.

Adrienne laughed. “Okay, we now have hope, and need to encourage some focus and will power to get them to the next stage. I will begin with a discussion of the economy, where it is headed, and the influences that female entrepreneurs are making. I will list, point by point, how to use hope to become a leader under the new paradigm. Then, during the lunch recess, we can send them some images through thought transfer that will ignite their passion and will. Then you are up!”

“Right … then I am up! This very focused, very forceful little Asian lady trying to encourage them in their decision making! Then I ease them into implementing those decisions. We only have a few months to get this done, but we have done it before, and never failed.”

“And we won’t fail this time! I have always been amused that in this lifetime we could both take high profile positions, and run high profile companies that blatantly advertise what we are all about. No more behind the scenes stuff!”

After they finished their drinks, both women headed up to their rooms. The next day they would be making history, although no one but them would be aware of it. This is the way that it had always been. Hope, will power, and determination were the driving forces behind change. A huge vibrational shift was underway, and it was up to them to get the leaders ready.
